Hola,
Last weekend was the first real festivalweekend. And what a weekend it was !
Friday night I went by train to Les Ardentes in Liège , a city in theFrenchh speaking part of Belgium. They are so sweet and friendly people , they treated me very well overthere . I could say something in my bestFrench and people gave me all kinds of info , only ordering the drinks was a bit difficult. I always asked for une bière , and they always gave me something else to drink. Funny, so i started to drink mojito , everybody understands that one. I saw a horrible Sven VÃth , a very nice Black Strobe , and then a lot of djs. I wanted to see Zombie Nation, and they really sucked. But it was a very nice experience. A nice clean medium sized festival with a lot of trees and some big dance halls. If they have a nice affiche next year I'll surely think of going there.
Saturday I went with a few friends to the Sjok festival. I had been there years ago. (Thatswhere i first saw Zion Train) . The festival hasn't changed much since then. Just a bunch of alternative people , looking for some fun and good music. The highlights of the festival Were the real Mc Kenzies and 45 RPM. The real Mc Kenzies are kiltpunks but played a straight , fast no nonsense folkpunk, with bagpipes, i liked it really a lot.Pithy I didn't know them before , but now I do so I can start down...... .
45 Rpm then.
Maybe it was for their up-tempo rockabilly, a bit more up-tempo rock'n'roll , because from al the slow rockabilly groups I heard Saturday this was one of the up-tempos.
Maybe it was for the lead singer. A tall blond German gal dressed in sailor suit. Sexy , an eye-teaser. She had a raw voice and was dowtown 50's. I'll try to find something of them on the web and link it. A shame I didn't take my camera along .
We 'll see you for the next festival. If everything works out just fine, with a lot of pictures.
